The confiscation of russian assets would be a good response to energy terror against Ukraine, — Kira Rudik for Daily Express

russia is deliberately destroying the Ukrainian energy industry, hoping to weaken the civilian population. This can be stopped by providing protection and more weapons and punishing moscow financially. That is, confiscating the frozen russian assets. This was emphasized by Ukrainian MP, «Golos» party leader, ALDE Vice President Kira Rudik in a blog for the Daily Express.

«russia has chosen Ukrainian energy as a target for its terror to break Ukrainians. This did not work for the enemy in the winter of 2022-23, and will not work now. But this target is painful, and it costs us effort to resist. However, we know that the most painful thing for the aggressor is taking away his money. So why can't we strike this tangible blow at the kremlin together?», — the politician notes. The G7's decision to provide a $50 billion loan, which will be repaid with earnings from such assets, is historic, but it is only the first step.  «Ukraine must receive all frozen russian funds — both private and sovereign. This is absolutely logical: why should the taxpayers of the partner countries rebuild what was destroyed by the aggressor, if these funds are already available? Why does the kremlin still have the tool of blackmail and pressure, if it can be deprived of this tool? And most importantly, the confiscation of these funds (especially the assets of the central bank of the russian federation) is a clear signal to other dictatorial regimes in the world that no crime goes unpunished», — emphasizes the leader of «Golos».
