Transparency must be paramount, — Kira Rudik regarding the restoration of political party declarations and public reporting
The Verkhovna Rada, in its first reading, voted to restore the declaration process for government officials and MPs, as well as to reinstate the reporting system for political parties. These decisions are demanded by Western partners and are crucial for the state as a whole. This was emphasized by the leader of the Golos party, Ukrainian MP, and Vice-President of ALDE, Kira Rudik. "As the leader of the Golos party, I support the restoration of the declaration process for government officials and the reporting system for political parties. This is one of the requirements set by the IMF, and it was due in July. We are doing everything necessary to meet this requirement as soon as possible and make financial expenditures truly public and transparent. This is extremely important for our international partners, who have long fought and supported the anti-corruption reform, and now they want to see results. Our partners are currently allocating significant funds to Ukraine for all possible needs, even non-military. Therefore, it's crucial from our side to show them that, at least from the standpoint of the public sector, the money is being spent transparently" According to Kira Rudik, transparency and public reporting of declarations act as a countermeasure to corruption scandals and illicit enrichment. "I submitted my declaration at the beginning of the year. We understand that open declarations can prevent many corruption scandals, as the relevant authorities will be able to identify those who are illicitly enriching themselves without journalists having to uncover it"
