Active work with Republicans in the Senate and Congress and «one voice» policy, — Kira Rudik on the steps before the inauguration of Donald Trump

The new US president's inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2025, and during these two months, Ukraine should actively work with the Republicans, offer them a clear plan that will outline our state's capabilities, and speak with one voice. Ukrainian MP, «Golos» party leader Kira Rudik insists on this in a column for Ukrainska Pravda. «The baseline is an active campaign with Republicans in the Senate and Congress. First of all, these are those who wrote a letter to President Joe Biden last year, where they put forward several conditions for his administration regarding further assistance to Ukraine. In that document, politicians demanded an aid strategy, an analysis of progress, reporting on what would happen if the aid was stopped, the implementation of sanctions pressure on the russian federation etc. So for a clear victory, we need to develop a plan. However, this plan should be about what Ukraine should do and what Ukraine offers, not a list of requests to partners. We must be ready to report on the funds spent», — the politician explains. Taking into account the specifics of supporters of the Republican Party and Trumpists, communication should be properly built. «We have to speak to the Republicans in their language and offer them something interesting. For example, the point from the victory plan about joint use of land and resources is a good idea. But will it work if the country does not have a high-quality judicial system, investment protection, and development strategy?  We must speak with one voice at all levels of representation about the inadmissibility of territorial concessions. End the war in one day is a good slogan, but how viable is it? Suppose Donald Trump succeeds in putting pressure on Kyiv, but will Moscow agree? Will he manage to temporarily freeze the war until the US president changes (does he hope that in 4 years there will be a new leader in the russian federation)? In any case, the loss of Ukraine would be a reputational loss for this administration, like the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan was for Joe Biden», — the leader of «Golos» emphasizes.
